CARA BERFIKIR DAN BERTINDAK YANG BERJAYA - Nik Zafri

- Tiada pesanan semula, disenaraihitamkan dsb.

THE IMPROPER AND IMBALANCE TUTORING
Tetty
Henney's Log - 02/2006
A boy and his mother were standing in front of the school gate. Despite there was a huge crowd of students walking in and out of the school gate, yet parents persistently waiting for their loved ones. ON one side, a group of people was also busy with their work - cutting and trimming some trunks and branches of the trees inside the school compound. And besides that, felling trees as well!!
No more big and beautiful trees that used to be the symbol of the school natural beauty. Earlier, trees that were planted along the way up to the hill leading out to all sub-ways and sub-roads are being fell. The community may either talk yet annoyed or some may lodge complaints and others prefer to stay speechless.
The mother cried silently. Being a teacher as well, she told her students about the
importance of oxygen. She also provides them the source of where this air comes from. She urged her students not to cut trees as they are the major source of oxygen. The son who has just being introduced to science subject is a Year 4 student. "Mom, my science teacher told me that leaves supply oxygen to the air. Why my schools throw away the big leaves??
He is 10 years old. This year is the first year he is learning science. The mother was distraught and gazed at her son who was indeed, confused. There appear to be an improper and imbalance education between what he learns and what is happening around him. She sighed.
These are some of the smart children who at all times searching for some answers. And mothers seldom resolve such issues in a matured way. I have been told by some students that they were given a typical reply, "I will see your teacher or headmistress and ask why she permitted them to cut your trees, dear." She held
his hands and they both walked home expecting to see miracles.
Today, children are being taught science facts and hypothesis. There have been some achievements and improvements (evolutions) in the editions of the school's science books for the past 15 years.
Living in the new era, there are always conflicts arising between those people who
produce goods and services and those who fight for liberty, safety, peace, justice and quality. These two entities hold difference principles and goals in their lives. One brings out the resources to people and the others cry out for a better and healthier lifestyle. They do not share similar ideas and thoughts. They are both enemies.
The boy and the tree cutters are the simplest examples of these two entities.

I was asked by one forumer on 'one post' here in Global Malaysians that read :
nikzafri wrote:
Foo and everyone.I do not know if you people believe in the universal
or cosmic power that talks about laws of attraction. It is the one 'moment in time'
when you give to the needies or being good samaritans, and for some reason,
you 'overlook' the thought of getting something back in return but quoting Foo
- "done in good faith and humanity"In most cases, you WILL get something back
(some sort like a 'reward' for good deeds - provided that you're not hoping for
something in return).
Has it ever occur to you that why do philantropists making good habits to give 1/2 or 1/4 of their wealth for good causes? Oooo..some people told me, it's because to avoid tax. But try to think for a while if you are to become very very rich and you've got everything in the world that you've ever wished for, what else is there to do with the balance? Keep it to yourself? 'm sure you all know who Bill Gates is. He was the President of Microsoft once and he got so bored sitting up there and went down 'demoting' himself to become the Marketing man and start pushing Microsoft's marketing.
Then he somehow felt that it's time to pass over to new breed and blood and now he's in his very own foundation..doing what? Becoming more generous and generous.I recalled talking to Gerard Lee about this matter but in the economics perspective -
i.e. Liquidity in the long run. But not so many people has this kind of 'faith'
(even if they do..they can't stand the pressure too long)...most of them are impatient...when they give something, they do want something back in return and fast!
Someone very wise told me the following words: "If you are too obsessed in chasing for richness, you cannot define yourself as working hard, but you are; in fact; greedy. Just stop the chasing for a while and you'll see, the richness will come to seek you."
"There's no such thing as a "Perfect Human Being"....when you try to be too perfect & cannot afford to make any mistakes, you're killing yourself or worse commit suicide..but if you can afford to make mistakes and learn from them - that's what being human is all about..not a perfect human but human."
Another ruling on the laws of attraction states that instead you're focussing your inner powers so much to weaken certain people in order to 'take over' their position, you are actually making them more powerful and usually you'll loose in the end. On the other hand, you should focus and telling yourself these positive vibes- "I can do it..I can do it...I can do it...I will succeed, I will succeed, I will succeed" or if you want take him/her to become your idol, you can tell yourself "He's/She's a normal human being, he/she has brains, he/she works hard....So do I"Something for you all to think about.
Cheers (I'm off to work again)
--------------------------------------
The questions are about to know more about Laws of Attraction - among others:
1) Logical or not logical?
2) How it is actually done?
3) Would I be successful?
And I have great respect for the forumer because he/she (?) said :
"Criticize me if you have to! I can take it!" So here goes..
I need to tell this forumer (hereinafter referred to as "You" :-)) that I myself is not an expert or 'authority' in this field but I can share few tips :
(but alas, for personal reasons, I can't tell you or guarantee success or have I been successful in practising this?Otherwise a lot of people will take my words as gospel)
My answers will be based on few books that I've read from renowned authors such as:
a. Victor Norman Peale
b. Jose Silva
c. Napoleon Hill
d. Wallace D. Wattles
e. Joe Vitale
If you have read any of these books or similar to them, you will know that the first
golden rule of practising Law of Attraction (as they call it today or any other equivalent terms used) is :
a. Cast away your doubts - Believe - in other words - Have faith.
Thus when you asked in your 3rd question :"Will it be succesful?" - Then I would deem that you have broken to first rule by being doubtful? :-)
(inquisitiveness? curiosity? you said? Nay..they are totally different - in spelling and in meaning..inquisitiveness is usually being expressed by a practitioner/believer but he/she wanted to continually improve his/hertechniques) - no offend :-)
Coming back to the first question.
b. Is it logical or not logical.
My answer would be :
The decision of whether it is logic or non-logic is made by you and you alone - not me or not the authors. It is really up to you to reject or accept.
But you asked : Logic or Not Logic...Again the question represents :doubt.
A popular management phrase :
"People will reject something that they don't understand" which is to be simply interpreted as "Rejection to CHANGE!"
(Remember when many ancient scientists been considered magicians and eventually punished unfairly because people at that time REJECT things that they do not understand - luckily I don't live in this era! :-) )
Thus, if you are a teacher, do you find it difficult to explain or to educate the students once they have the REJECTION* attitude/mindset 'built-in'..
I'm sure and really hope - you're not one of them. (*Ignorance/Just Don't want or don't wish to understand or afraid of the consequences) Less but not least,
c) "How is it done?"
My question back to you? Have you actually read any of the books? :-)
How come you're asking me back the questions when you said you have actually READ one of the books I mentioned above? Really?
Now, after you have read my views on your questions, you can now read the non-intellectual tips once you have considered seriously what I've said above. All positive inputs are meant only for positive ouputs.
(Yeah I know people might misunderstood and argue on the typical fomula Positive + Positive but I'm not referring to 3 M (Maths or Marriage or Magnetic Field)..I'm talking about 'karma' or 'what goes around comes around' or whatever you want to call it)
I use to tell my friends all the time :
"If you pose someone a stupid question, (it is likely that) you'll get a stupid answer"
"The mirror doesn't lie to you, it's you who are lying to the mirror"
If you read back the original thread posted here, I was talking about being generous once you're rich. This statement; if not properly understood; might be seen as 'self-imposement of 'self created strict law' that you MUST forced/coerced) give in order to make LOA works! (hahaha..you're DEAD wrong!)
If you think that being generous will make you reap rewards, think again!
(In another perspective, you are teaching 'the man upstairs' of his job...when he already know what his job is...it's you who do not understand..you are providing your own terms and conditions that is "If I give I must get something back" who you're foolin?)
If I am him, I would say to you "You dare to teach me!!" :-) )
a) It is not really being generous when you start lying to yourself - means that
'you are asking/hoping something in return for something you give?" which makes you to a certain degree - an 'insincere' person? Again another golden rule broken.
b) you are creating another 'false rule yourself' about YOU MUST BE GENEROUS when you're practising Laws of Attraction (LOA).
What really is happening to you at this juncture is that without you realizing it, you are actually trying to pathetically xeroxing Bill Gates or Rockafeller without asking them why the heck are you guys being generous? Rule broken again.
The idea of being generous ONLY when you have money is illogical. So, you don't have money, you're not generous'lah'?...a rather narrow thinking - don't you think?
How about sharing food? or giving away/donating your clothes or other valuables to people in need? Being generous is not necessarily because you have money. I don't think you will be successful in your life if you hold to this principle. It's like waiting to be rich first before you can become generous later...hahaha..good luck my friend..
I'll tell you what this 'generous' attitude really means (in my opinion - taking into account the books that I've read):
Being generous is the expression of "being thankful" or "greatful" for "what you have been 'awarded' with..that's all. (and it's not only MONEY!)
Otherwise you'll end being generous because the LOA says so...which is not really accurate. (I'm not saying it's wrong to be generous but change the perspective a bit)
Now, how to create that 'thankful feeling' on the first place? Here are some basics :
Just flashback and remember/recall what has befallen you "BEFORE YOU ARE RICH" in the past? Financial Difficulty? Being Poor? How does it feel like? Would you want to be 'that way' again? Or have you forgotten your 'dark' past?
Only then, you would be really be thankful or greatful and as a result you would be
generous...now this is PURE SINCERITY - (which you will definitely FEEL so good..trust me not to mention of donating without wanting publicity (that is a BONUS!)
Thus, you're being generous because you're thankful or greatful for what you have been bestowed with and feel so good when you can help people out...You don't need anything in return because you already GOT IT!
Thus :
Input = Practising LOA
Output = Being Thankful/Greatful equals to "Generosity/Pure Sincererity"
(God..I feel like I'm a somesort of a 'guru' or something...hahaha..funny)
Now this is what I call giving back what you have been given.

Apart from the above, meetings/discussions which are time- consuming and unproductive must be minimised including to experiment or test-run a certain 'blue print' or system which is still theoritical. Finally, negative habits such as loafing, truancy, too much talking, spending too long of a time at canteens/cafeteria/stalls should be avoided.

All planning should consider measurement, implementation, current financial status, human resources, technology and business suitability. Instilling discipline (or self-instilled disciplines) in all aspects including subordination
Business is an art as well as a science. It's a matter of practical experience, judgment, foresight and luck. To be successful in business, you must master the basics of business success.
Fortunately, all business skills are learnable. You can learn anything you need to learn, to achieve any goal you can set for yourself. There are no limits--except the limits you place on your own imagination.
There are three major reasons why businesses fail: lack of money, lack of knowledge and lack of support. By mastering the basics of business success, you'll gain the knowledge necessary to acquire the support and money you need for your business.
So just what are the essentials of business success? There are seven key areas of activity that determine whether your business will live or die:
1. Marketing. Your ability to determine and sell the right product to the right customer at the right time
2. Finance. Your ability to acquire the money you need, and account for the money you receive
3. Production. Your ability to produce products and services at a high enough level of quality and consistency over time
4. Distribution. Your ability to get your product or service to the market in a timely and economic fashion
5. Research and development. Your ability to continually innovate and produce new products, services, processes and responses to your competition
6. Regulation. Your ability to deal with the requirements of government legislation at all levels
7. Labor. Your ability to find the people you need, deal with unions, establish personnel policies, training and organizational development
And from this list, comes the very specific, identifiable reasons for business success:
Having a product or service that's well suited to the needs and requirements of the current market
Developing a complete business plan before commencing business operations
Conducting a complete market analysis before producing or offering the product or service
Thoroughly developing advertising, promotional and sales programs
Establishing tight financial controls, good budgeting practices, accurate bookkeeping and accounting methods, all backed by an attitude of frugality
Ensuring that there's a high degree of competence, capability and integrity on the part of key staff members
Having good internal efficiency, time management, clear job descriptions, accompanied by clear and measurable output and responsibilities
Developing effective communication among the staff and an open-door policy for managers, especially the business's owner
Generating strong momentum in the sales department and placing a continued emphasis on marketing your product or service
Making concern for the customer a top priority at all times
Putting determination, persistence and patience at the top of the list on the part of the business owners
And now that you know the seven essentials of business success and the identifiable factors involved in helping your company succeed, let me share the top reasons for business failure. Thousands of companies were studied to determine the reasons businesses fail. Here they are, in order of their importance:
Lack of direction. Business owners often fail to establish clear goals and create plans to achieve those goals, especially before starting out, when they fail to develop a complete business plan before launching their company.
Impatience. This occurs when business owners try to accomplish too much too soon, or expect to get results far faster than is truly possible. A good rule to remember is that everything costs twice as much and takes three times as long as expected.
Greed. When entrepreneurs try to charge too much to make a lot of money in a short period of time, failure isn't far behind.
Taking action without thinking it through first. An entrepreneur acts impetuously and makes costly mistakes that eventually cause the business to fail.
Poor cost control. An entrepreneur spends too much, especially in the early stages, and spends all their startup capital money before achieving profitability.
Poor product quality. This makes it difficult to sell and difficult to get repeat business.
Insufficient working capital. An entrepreneur expects--and requires--immediate, positive cash flow that doesn't occur, leading to the failure of the business.
Bad or nonexistent budgeting. An entrepreneur fails to develop written budgets for operations that include all possible expenses.
Inadequate financial records. An entrepreneur fails to set up a bookkeeping or accounting system from the beginning.
Loss of momentum in the sales department. This leads to a decline in cash flow and the eventual collapse of the enterprise.
Failure to anticipate market trends. An entrepreneur doesn't recognize changes in demand, customer preferences or the economic situation.
Lack of managerial ability or experience. An entrepreneur doesn't know or understand the important skills it takes to run a business.
Indecisiveness. An entrepreneur is unable to make key decisions in the face of difficulties, or decisions are delayed or improperly made because of concern for the opinions or feelings of other people.
Bad human relations. Personal problems and conflict with staff, suppliers, creditors and customers can easily lead to business failure.
Diffusion of effort. An entrepreneur tries to do too many things, thus failing to set priorities and focus on high-value tasks.
Business success isn't a mystery waiting to be solved. It's an attainable goal, if you simply avoid the reasons for business failure and continually focus on improving the areas that are responsible for business success.

Great stuffs nik!
Allow me to add. The main problem in today's businesses is that many top corporate owners still find it tough to delegate and trust even their fully competent and qualified generals to make a call. This slows down decision making process and one major fact today is that business is very much based on the speed of making things happen.
My company had the privilege of being appointed as an ad-hoc project manager and coordinator, handling everything from protocol communications to organising a huge MNC's official opening of its plant in Pg with our CM being the honorary guest. (see the link below). We were given just about 3 weeks from the word go to make it happen and the rate of their approval for our proposals were simply superb.
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/8/10/north/15077905&sec=North
They are currently the fastest growing semicon company (as listed in Forbes). Our CM, Tan Sri Koh and everybody present were astounded when the CEO of the corporation mentioned that it was his first trip to Pg! He reiterated that he based his actions on the advices of his team of leaders here in Malaysia & S'pore. He went ahead to invest 100million here upon their advice and only made his trip here to witness the official opening of the plant. And the greatest achievement is that they built the plant and started its operations (with over 200 staffs) all within 3 months making them a record breaker! You know what their tagline is? Moving Forward Faster.
And here we sometimes see big local companies that has so much red tape that even a decision to approve a Rm 1000 purchase is delayed due to the green light required by the MD. Hmmm, we have always teased at the "kiasu-ness" of the Singaporeans but I wonder if we ever look at our own "kiasi-ness", hehe.

Great stuffs nik! Allow me to add. The main problem in today's businesses is that many top corporate owners still find it tough to delegate and trust even their fully competent and qualified generals to make a call. This slows down decision making process and one major fact today is that business is very much based on the speed of making things happen. |
This is the part that I will never understand. Despite we have all the sophisticated and up-to-date or 'state of the art' tools and technologies, yet, we are sometimes; as if; still 'too conventional and simplistic' in managing an organization. Correct me if I'm wrong...has this got something to do with 'fear of change'? (among the senior management level?)

My company had the privilege of being appointed as an ad-hoc project manager and coordinator, handling everything from protocol communications to organising a huge MNC's official opening of its plant in Pg with our CM being the honorary guest. (see the link below). We were given just about 3 weeks from the word go to make it happen and the rate of their approval for our proposals were simply superb. http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/8/10/north/15077905&sec=North They are currently the fastest growing semicon company (as listed in Forbes). I'm impressed!! Here's what I think...your company has what I call the 'one-game-plan'...not 'multiple game plan'...meaning - the majority (I wouldn't say all) of your company's population is genuinely working according to the Company's vision, mission, objectives and goals. The effectiveness of your company's operation could may be well attributed to the effectiveness of leadership, resource management, information dissemination, A & P and good human resources/traning/development. Of course, you may still find 'hiccups' here and it's all about continual improvement. Only - I'm not sure about one thing..if you're willing to share with us here....what's your company's branding and most importantly, how did your company make everyone understand that they are carrying a big responsibility of 'enhancing the corporate image'?

Memory serves, here's something that we've discussed a long time ago...

It's largely due to inculcating the self belief in themselves. Here's my method of doing it on a step by step basis, from a new staff's day of entry into our fold (though a very small one that is, at the moment):
- Have at least an hour or two "get to know better session" with the person
- Exchange some stories about one another and find out their likes and dislikes
- Lend support to the causes they believe in
- Find out into more detail what they believe their strengths are
- Brief them about what the company's strengths and weaknesses are, and also where the company is heading
- Explore with them (we do not dictate) on how their strengths can be used to tie in with the company's plans and then assign that part of the responsibility of the workscope to them
- Work out a gameplan with them based on what they believe they can do which runs in line with what you want them to do
- Tell them it's ok to make mistakes (to eradicate the fear of making a mistake which could prevent them from exposing their true potentials) as long as it's not about anything illegal or malicious or involves self greed.
- Start a buddy system for them for the next few weeks
- Keep them involved in group conversations (to eradicate shyness as well as to make them feel at home)
and the list goes on......
Those are the compulsory stuffs we do cos I feel that there is no way we can know all about each other from just interviews no matter how many times we have done it.
Once the self belief is there, without the lingering fear of making mistakes, the passion on the job grows within them. And with passion comes commitment and the sincere desire to do it well, do it right and do it fast. And the ultimate outcome would be getting the results that we all need. We tell them that rewards will come on its own when we do what we have to but when one focuses on the rewards, one may do the wrong thing to get it because the priority becomes clouded, and they may end up getting no reward at all because of that.
Above all, be fair, compliment when it is due, point out effectively when they are wrong. It is not that we are being soft with them. Respect them and they will respect you and the company. Be transparent, allow your door to be always opened to anyone.
If you dont spend some time for your people, they won't spend much time for you or your company either. So patience and sincerity has to be shown on the part of the leader first. Good staffs don't need you, you need good staffs. They are the best form of investment any company can ever have. For me, my first assessment which forms my decision of any potential person is the heart. If its clean, pure and good, then every other thing can be developed from there cos that to me, is the foundation of a person's character.
