QUOTE FOR THE DAY - BAILOUTS AND SHARES BUYBACK ARE NOT HELPING THE PEOPLE

When bailouts happen or corporate loans being approved with low interest rates and restructured, I think the money is intended to boost the economy by building more infrastructures and/or ease unemployment problems.

Instead; the "money" is used to buyback own shares/stocks to stabilize the price (by the "corporate borrowers"). As a result we see : two shoot ups - (1) corporate debts, (2) stock market price.
While this can being applauded, one thing remain constant, this "glory" happened while so many people including graduates are still unemployed.
Although share buybacks is legal, yet, it does not contribute to the people.
And yes, providing stimulus may be a good thing, but to those who are able to work - to have them employed is far more better.
Basics : When money is overflowing, the goods are lesser and higher in price, inflation will happen. (or is it happening?)
I hope this will not be a trend in Malaysia but I do see signs.

TODAY'S FOOD FOR THE THOUGHT

Many special awards are being offered to foster goodwill and to inspire others. Unfortunately, some of these special awards; which I feel strongly; have been given to the WRONG person who knows NOTHING about the field. Trust me, we are fully aware those who are actively involved. I won't name the recipients but I think the juries should reconsider a proper standard/code of practice in their selection - otherwise they will be deemed as partial and risk losing respect. ASEAN CONTROL WORLD EXPO/TRANS4M - KL CONVENTION CENTRE - 23-24/05/2022 - MY BRIEF OBSERVATIONS - NIK ZAFRI

ASEAN Control World Expo/Trans4M 2022 #controlworldexpo with Managing Principal of Noma SWO Consult - KL Convention Centre, KLCC

It was great. The exhibitors have range of sophisticated state of the art technology, devices, robotics, software and apps, IOT and Artificial Intelligence. The QA/QC-based multi-faceted analysis presented were really good with detailed explanation and justifications.
What I see lacking are :
a) is the link towards applicable codes of practice especially when you speak about Standard Deviation or displaying measurement tables - without the applicable codes of practice/standards, people may be wondering where do you based your argument to determine that "this is ok" or "this is not ok" or "within tolerance" or "not within tolerance
b) The analysis; although thorough; unfortunately the "deficiencies" are not linked to some form of two most important elements, Risk Analysis (for proactive Risk Identification and Assessment) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent similar problems to reoccur or at least reduced in the future. RCA will determine the competency of the person correcting the arising problems whether such person require additional training etc.
c) The analysis; despite multi-faceted; is not focused on "by cost-analysis" - which is extremely important in my 20+ years experience in QA/QC profession.
d) Some apps, system and devices are good in detecting vibration and noise - proven useful for construction industry such as "piling" - which is quite limited unless they are used for preventive slope stability analysis or soil movement or perhaps can be a value-added tool during Site Investigation/Reconnaissance.
The other problem is that the datum (like Lidar) should also make way for conversion/input into the modern Architectural Building Information Model to simulate or project the image via Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
e) On Personal Observations : I've also noticed the visitors are a little low, whether they have a low interest towards the "tech-nerdy" exhibition or the time is not right or perhaps the cost/pricing of sophisticated systems are "too high" to procure during post-lockdown recovery period. Whatever the case maybe, the organizers should promote this event a little more bigger in the future - considering the displays are significantly important to the future of industries.

CAN TRADE SECRETS BE PROTECTED TODAY? - Overview by Nik Zafri

Nowadays, any organization with full infrastructure of ICT network and systems practicing 'data sharing' using the B2B and B2C platforms, painstakingly since early 2000 are now expanding their business.

However, when we talk about 'data transparency', the challenge is safeguarding 'sensitive data' (such as trade-secrets) and at the same time, not to intervene with the flow of information.

But today, should such secrets are not properly safeguarded, the sensitive data can suddenly become obsolete tomorrow due to "information explosion" on the net. Today, one organization introduced the latest technology, (no-hush-hush) - the next day, you'll see that the 'so-called new technology' ended up with similar but more improvised technology at the cheaper price - surprisingly from another country that thousands of miles away.

To avoid leaking problems, the plumbers are usually ICT and Human Resource Management - but what about the losses due to leaking information. Although the two departments are the right ones to deal with personnel revealing confidential information but it is still deemed as 'fire-fighting'. True enough, it happens again and again.

Humbly, let me share my own experience when I was employed to one organization to make a 'turnaround' under consultancy capability.

Without going into too much details, all I can conclude is that I managed to convince top management and other units/departments to return to the basics (looking back into the Core Business Process profusely written in their very own Company Manual - (chuckle they will find)

1) Research and Development,

2) Design,

3) Innovation,

4) Advertising and Promotion,

5) Market Survey,

6) Marketing and Sales.

Despite the hiccups I had with the 'Executive Management' team, I have succesfully managed to 'rehighlight' the aforesaid '6 profit centre' units to ALWAYS be in the lead to entice prospects, new customers and returning customers.

The 'data sharing' practices (what to share with the customers even on the company's website) must FIRST come and being reviewed by these units as they are the ones who knows better than any other units/departments which data is deemed as confidential or otherwise.

The root cause of failure is always linked to another department or unit coming in 'too early' into the picture and doing 'someone's else job'.

Sometimes, rewarding scheme for people achieving targets and definitely punishing those who did not can be BOTH FATAL.

People will start cutting corners, stabbing one another, stepping on other "cats tails" and God knows what.

What if rewarding and punishing are being applied to Occupational Safety and Health matters, then there may be dangerous risks and hazards even leading to incidents and accidents - when workers start to cut corners either to achieve the objectives OR the fear of not achieving it.

Mind you, I'm neither implying that other departments/units are of less significance nor rewarding system should not be practiced.

I'm really talking about :

a) 'Who to do What and When' and also

b) effective monitoring must first be in place before considering to reward or to punish.

CARA BERFIKIR DAN BERTINDAK YANG BERJAYA - Nik Zafri

MAHUKAH ANDA MENJADI BEGINI? SAMPAI BILA??

(1) A temporal causality loop (or simply causality loop) is a type of phenomenon whereby a specific moment in time repeats itself continually inside an independent fragment of time.

Kaedah terbaik ialah :

(2) the continuing and spreading results of an event or action.

Anda menjadi seorang yang idealistik dan inovatif.  Andalah pelukis hidup anda sendiri.

STAR WARS - THE FORCE AWAKENS

So, I've seen the most awaited and much anticipated - "Star Wars The Force Awakens"
I'm impressed; after all these years; the 'feel' of the original "Star Wars" has been remarkably portrayed. It has succeeded to remind my generation of the 1976 - 77 badge of the good old days when it first appeared on the big screen. The special-effects, CGIs etc. are spectacular!!
Kylo Ren is definitely going to be the new Sith warrior - possibly better than Darth Vader. Am sure by now the Siths have learnt their lessons not to underestimate the Jedis.
(I kinda like Ren's real name : Ben - somehow the name must have been taken in honour of Ben Kenobi - Obiwan)
The Sith have even improvised the Storm Trooper with some sort of electrical sword to fight with the traditional light-saber held by Finn in one scene.
Even the Supreme Leader Snoke is cautious enough to complete Ren's training only after proving himself with the brutal murder of his own father (Han Solo RIP) to nurture the strong feeling of the dark side. And you have the new more confident General who can speak face to face with Kylo Ren and criticize him without fear in the presence of the Supreme Leader)
(Snoke is possibly from the bloodline of Asajj Ventress (Assaj like Snoke are "very bad news" - even worse than Chancellor Palpatine a.k.a. the Emperor. Maz Kanata on the other hand is related to Yoda) And Rey is obviously Luke's daughter! (Well, R2D2 did "light up" in Rey's presence and not Luke)
(You can figure this all out if you are really a pure Star Wars fan - reading all the Star Wars books (to see the "crossovers", "side stories etc), playing all the Star Wars computer games and watching all the animated versions of Star Wars) and most important, the name KATHLEEN KENNEDY - you should be aware of NOT George Lucas)
But I will not be surprised at all if Rey turned out to be Solo-Organa's bloodline or lost bloodline of Kenobis even. (you all know that it is prohibited for a Jedi to be married)
But for now I'm sticking to Luke being Rey's father ("Luke has much of his father in him" - to Quote : Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen - so like his father Anakin, Luke crossed the line by secretly getting married but found out that his wife is either another Sith or probably being murdered by some Sith Lord - and Luke took Rey to safety on Jakuul - just like Obiwan did to him on Tatooine)
Ok, that being said, now for the dissapointments!!
1) The story has too much plot of Episode 4 (A New Hope) and Episode 6 (Return of the Jedi) - you know "the rebellion", "death star" (even the new version is like 100X bigger "LOL")..
I am unsure why JJ Abrams put the new story in that manner. As a fan of Star Trek as well (Trekkie): at least "Star Trek" and "Star Trek : Into the Darkness" have made courageous "BIG CHANGES"
2) The idea having cameo appearance of Luke Skywalker to only be seen at the last scene has caused much dissapointment to the Star Wars 1st generation.
3) Too much surprises spoil the plot.
4) A bit of "Harry Potter" approach - using light saber instead of a wand.
5) I sincerely hope that it's not like:
"No...you're seeing Episode 10 actually, not Episode 7 ("JJ Abram's twist")... - just like the "Lucas" twist showing Episodes 4, 5 and 6 first - then 1, 2, 3.
The good things about Star Wars The Force Awakens :
a) it has triggered the fans "to be forced" to watch the story till the end (with no proper conclusion)
b) it is a totally new story of Star Wars for the new generation
c) an introduction to new warriors and faces of the new age - Ren, Rey, Poe and Finn (my guess is Finn and Poe - could be potential new Jedis) - the Fans are saying that Finn is related to Lando Calrissian! And we have this new cute BB8 as a new ally to R2D2 and C3PO.
d) I will definitely wait for next movie scheduled for 2017

Whatever it is, I'm glad that I am still a Star Wars fan!

PSIKOLOGI DAGANGAN FOREX

A. SASARAN DAN TEKNIK

J= [1+ (M/K)] x P – 1
di mana :

J        =        Jangkaan
M      =        Purata Dagangan yang Menang (Win)
K       =        Purata Dagangan yang Kalah (Loose)
P       =        Peratusan Nisbah Kemenangan

J = [1+ (400/300)] x 0.6 - 1 = 0.40 atau 40%.

8. Melakukan Analisa Pada Hujung Minggu

THE NEW ISO 9001:2015 - NIK ZAFRI

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE NEW ISO 9001:2015 (PART 1)

Disclaimer : Most of the contents here are not the 'actual/literal' text of the actual new ISO 9001:2015. It's the personal interpretation of the author.

0.1 – QMS as a strategic decision, a robust Quality Management Systems (QMS) – to help organization to improve its overall performance and forms an integral component of sustainable development. Design and implementation of QMS is influenced by the context of organization and   (including) the changes.

Definition

a. Strategic– Identification of long term/overall aims and interest and means to achieve them (taking into account coping up with fundamental changes – susceptible to the surroundings (what is happening around you) – law, competition, regulations, standards, trends, new technology, innovation, Research and Development etc.)

b. Robust– a process, system able to withstand or overcome adverse conditions (defects, non-conformance, corrective action request)

c. Improve overall performance – integral component of sustainable development– no system is perfect, it should be improved and become part and parcel of company's culture to achieving excellence.

d. Designed and Implemented by the sort of industry-specific – service/product provided by the company (to achieve such purpose – goals and objectives) – customization/tailor-made (1)

The rest of the content in 0.1 also talks about culture (already covered), external factors – socio-economic conditions under which it operates) – when we talk about socio-economic conditions – it talks about how the process - impacts the general public, public perception, surroundings  – possibly employment opportunity and most important – the organization must realize its financial capacity –not to do something way beyond their ability. Do something that suits the organization ONLY  (2)

Also touched on QMS can differ from one organization to another(See (1) - customization)

0.2 – not much have been changed except more emphasis is given in point no. 2 – ISO 9001 – improved internal communication, better understanding and control of process – reduction in defects and waste

(the only way to do all these is to adopt principle of “no walls, no politics, no overlapping of duties, no pinpointing, no blaming culture” - so 100 points go to"Improved Internal Communication"  - everything starts here....

and also point no. 4 of 0.2 – ISO 9004 which touches on configuration management; apart from other elements – quality plan, project QM, measurement process/equipment, documentation, (and again - ) financial/economic benefits of the system (See (2), Statistics etc.

Definition

Configuration Management - system engineering process for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's (or services) performance, functional and physical attributes with its requirements, design and operational information throughout its life.

0.3– comprehensive process-approach explained in better details. What's interesting are the words “understood” and “understanding” are being used. It means that the system HAS to be understood – on company-wide basis.

There is no point making a system only to be understood by a certain 'exclusive top management level'.

How to make everyone understand?

Mind you, I'm not talking about the typical
(word by word) memorizing the policy or objectives – remember UNDERSTAND is totally different than MEMORIZE....

a laymen understanding – is to understand QMS in their OWN work! (refer Job Description and Responsibilities/Authorities) – if these are not clear, DON'T HOPE everyone to understand – you will receive typical provoking comments from them just like when the previous system was implemented - “This is not my job?” “Having ISO is like having NOTHING – no impact – nothing for me” - hence - they don't feel the system!

0.4 including Figure 1 and 2 talk about 'Plan-Do-Check-Act” in much more simple understanding but implementable.

0.5 Something new – Risk-Based Thinking (in fact it's partial risk management) – which I agree 100%.

Definition

Simply look back at your Management Review Meeting, Data Analysis and Continual Improvement Plan (if you have any - if you don't, then 'BIG TROUBLE') – now PROACTIVELY start identifying, assess and prioritize the risks (the effect of "uncertainty") – how do you that?

Yes, look back at frequent problems in your data?

And prioritize - put them according to order, mark them with RED, YELLOW or GREEN and discuss the solution further. You can also integrate ITP, HIRARC, SHASSIC, CONQUAS or whatever specific assessment/inspection system you have (if you have one - if you don't, then go for the normal inspection that you do - incoming, in-process and outgoing) etc. into it.

No overlapping please...let all the system be harmonized and co-exist.

Now, should you have a full (projected) Risk Management Plan before starting the operation? (Preliminary, Design, Interim and Final) – if you have the time – the answer is YES!

Project Management - Critical Path Method - justify the RED ones by thinking outside the box (outside the software) - there must be alternative ways of justifying it. Yes, I have the great CPM and the 'technical S Curve'  but why is there still delay?

Just match it with your MRM Data...you'll be on the right track.

0.6– compatibility with other management systems – explained in greater details.

VERDICT?

Yes, the new ISO 9001:2015 is attempting to cover and solve ALL kinds of management and technical problems (sound kind of ambitious - don't you think?) – however, lots of cross-referencing need to be made. Act smart for a while...please

(wait for Part 2)
