I’m glad to report that I’ve blocked a significant number of profiles that misused the “Service Request” and "web-enquiry" function (I'm used to get fishy emails)
A common pattern I’ve observed individuals (some with misleading intentions) is a tendency to avoid presenting their true identity. Instead, they often project fabricated backgrounds, foreign affiliations, or positions that are difficult to verify and, in many cases, do not exist.
From a behavioural perspective, this reflects a few psychological tendencies. First is impression management, where individuals deliberately construct a more “desirable self” to gain trust or authority. Second is the online disinhibition effect, where anonymity reduces accountability and makes deception easier. There is also an element of identity insecurity, where some may feel their real background is not “enough,” leading them to adopt alternative personas. Finally, it often ties to social validation seeking, where perceived status is used as a shortcut to earn credibility.
Some people may disagree with me but I don't really give a "damn"
