A common trait among many drivers in Malaysia is the belief that they are the most important or urgent users of the road. This often leads to reckless behavior such as excessive and unnecessary honking, driving under the influence of alcohol, quick tempers, and in some cases, road bullying. Such behavior has contributed to numerous avoidable tragedies, including serious accidents that claim innocent lives and sometimes involve entire families.
When some of these individuals are eventually arrested, it is often surprising to see genuine remorse knowing the fact that they are going to face justice - still having the guts attempting to evade full responsibility or punishment. However, it must be remembered that when someone is killed or seriously injured, the harm cannot simply be undone with money or apologies.
